The Time Out Technique

Time out

This is a great tool for anyone who suffers with ADD/ADHD.

 

If your feeling stressed or over excited, it could be at work,home,school or just about anywhere then try these simple steps.

This can be changed to suit any situation, the best way to do this is to have a keyword so for example you or your parents have discussed with the school about your disorder and they are fully aware that you find it difficult to sit down for long periods of time.

You need to establish a word that you can use to let that person know you would like a “time out” or a cooling off period shall we say.

The best word that i used was “break” as it seems alot easier to say this than time out. If your in a stressful situation and you feel yourself losing control or getting over excited try this technique it will alow you to have a short time away from whats going on and have a glass of water or cool down.
